
Shayla is a 2015 graduate of Colo-NESCO and is currently living in Ames Iowa.
Shayla was a high level 4 sport athlete for Colo-NESCO, she embodied the small school athlete mentality and that showed by her playing four sports throughout her time at Colo-NESCO. Because of this determination, Shayla holds multiple records in multiple sports such as Track, Volleyball, and Basketball. These records include:
Track: 400 meter dash 1:01.3, Sprint Medley Relay 1:56.1.
Volleyball: Career Digs with a total of 506
Basketball: Season Steals 176, Career Assists 459, and Career Steals 605,
Other major accomplishments that Shayla accomplished during her time at Colo-NESCO include; 1st team all conference Basketball for three years and elite team all conference basketball for two years. INA All State basketball guard in 2012 (3rd team), 2013 (2nd team), 2014 (2nd team). Des Moines Register all state basketball in 2013 and 2014. 1st team Ames Tribune All Mid Iowa basketball in 2013 & 2014. 1st team all conference softball and 1st team Ames tribune all mid iowa softball in 2014. She was also honorable mention All State Softball in 2014. Shayla was a state qualifier in track in 2012 and helped her basketball team reach the state tournament 3 years in a row ( 2012, 2013, and 2014). Shayla continued her basketball career after high school where she went to DMACC for two years and then transferred to Bellevue.

Scott was the head women's basketball coach at Colo-NESCO from 1988-1993. Although coach Dejong was only the head coach for five years, he will go down as one of the best coaches to have coached at Colo-NESCO.
Coach Dejong led the lady Royals to 4 state tournament appearances in his 5 years of coaching, losing in substate his 5th year. Coach Dejong had tournament appearances in 1989, 1990, 1991, and 1992. In 1991 coach Dejong helped lead the Royals to the state championship game and finished the season as runner up. The following year he and his team made another great run in the state tournament, ending up finishing 3rd place at the state tournament.
After his time at Colo-NESCO coach Dejong went to Ankeny and then Ankeny Centennial when they split apart and ended up winning 7 state championships, which is the most state championships in Iowa history! Coach Dejong ended his Colo-NESCO career record with 123 wins and only 12 loses. He ended his career record with an astonishing 717 wins and 102 loses. Coach Dejong also received many accolades during his time at Colo-NESCO. In 1989 he was the Ames Tribune Mid Iowa and Nevada Journal coach of the year in all sports. In 1990 he was the Ames Tribune Mid Iowa coach of the year, and in 1992 he was once again the Ames Tribune Mid Iowa and Nevada Journal coach of the year in all sports. Coach Scott Dejong was inducted into the IGHSAU Hall of Fame in 2004.

Josh was a five sport athlete in high school, competing in football, basketball, baseball, track and soccer. Josh was a letter winner in all of those sports and earned multiple all conference honors in all of those sports. Although Josh was a great athlete in all of his sports, football was the sport he stood out the most in. Josh is undoubtedly one of the best football players to come through Colo-NESCO. Josh was top 5 in multiple football categories after his career ended at Colo-NESCO.
2nd in Career Rushing Yards, 4th in career rushing TDs, 2nd in season receiving yards, 2nd in single season receiving yards, 1st in single season receptions, 2nd in season receiving TDs, 2nd in career receiving yards, 1st in career receptions, 2nd in career receiving TDs.
Other accomplishments Josh earned during his time at Colo-NESCO include:
2nd team All District Linebacker in 2006, 1st Team all district linebacker in 2007, In 2008 Josh was 1st team Des Moines Register All State Linebacker, 1st Team A INA All State Linebacker, 1st team all state Sports Connection, 1st Team All District Linebacker, Defensive Player of the year All District, Player of the year football Ames Tribune All Mid Iowa, 2nd team HOIC All Conference basketball, and 1st team All Conference Goal Keeper for soccer. Josh also participated in the Iowa Shrine bowl which included the top senior football players in the state of Iowa.
Josh also demonstrated great character throughout his high school career. This was recognized when he was awarded the American Citizen Award, the U.S Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award as well as being the student body representative. Josh's character as well as athletic talent made him a great leader and representative for Colo-NESCO.
After high school Josh attended Morningside University where he played running back for the Mustangs and competed in a national championship.

Christian is a 2016 graduate of Colo-NESCO and is currently living in Polk City. During his time at Colo-NESCO Christian was a high level athlete in football, basketball, baseball, and track. Christian was a pure/gifted athlete who excelled at a high level in any sport he played. Christian moved to Colo-NESCO during his Freshman year of high school, but due to IAHSAA policies he was unable to participate in athletics his freshmen year. Records that Christain holds at Colo-NESCO include:
Football: Season Special Teams TD, Career Special Teams TD.
Track: 400 Meter Hurdle 54.15, Shuttle Hurdle Relay (60.61-Now retired).
Baseball: Season Triples, Career Triples, and Career Fielding Percentage.
In Football, Christian was a vital part both offensively and defensively for the Royals! Christian earned 1st team All District Quarterback, All District Special Teams MVP, and 1st team All Mid Iowa Team Defensive Back.
In Basketball, Christian earned many honors throughout his three years which included; 2nd team IBCA Central District in 2013. Elite all conference team in 2014 & 2015, 1st team all substate in 2014 & 2015, 3rd team INA All State basketball in 2014 and 2nd team in 2015, 1st team Ames Tribune All Mid Iowa basketball in 2014 & 2015, and 1st team Des Moines Register All State basketball team in 2015.
In Baseball, Christian earned the following honors throughout his 3 years!
1st team Ames Tribune All Mid Iowa Outfield in 2015 & 2016. 1st team IBCA All Central District outfield in 2015 & 2016 1st team times republican all area outfield in 2016 and 2nd team all state outfield in 2016.
In Track, Christian excelled by establishing himself as one of the best track athletes in class 1A in 2016. Christian helped the shuttle hurdle team not only break the school record but place 2nd in class 1A at the state track meet. He finished 12th place in long jump at the state track meet and added a state title to his resume in 2016 as he finished as a state champion in the 400 meter hurdles.
